2021 Honda Passport Changes, Release Date, MPG, and Colors. The familiar nameplate came back this year after a long hiatus. The new model features a little bit of diffferent design. Instead of a traditional body-on-frame layout, the new model is a unibody crossover, heavily based on a super-practical Pilot. However, it’s visual appearance clearly indicates that the model has some off-road aspirations. It looks pretty much adventure-ready and that’s the reason why many believe that the 2021 Honda Passport could come with various upgrades.
Allegedly, we are about to see updates. However, visual enhancements won’t’ be the only thing to come. We also count on a version that will come with numerous mechanical upgrades, which would make this vehicle much more capable off the road. Other than that, we might see visual updates, novelties in terms of standard equipment and similar things. We might see 2021 Honda Passport a little bit earlier than usual, but definitely not before the second half of 2020.
2021 Honda Passport Engines
Although we may see a new off-road version in the offer, we are pretty sure that the 2021 Honda Passport will carry on with the same powertrain. This means you may count on a well-known 3.5-liter V6, which is good for about 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque and comes in pair with a smooth-shifting 9-speed transmission. The engine accelerates well, while fuel economy is pretty good as well. You may count on about 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. These are pretty much average numbers for the class.
2021 Honda Passport Changes
At this point, it is still unclear whether the update is coming or not, but many reports suggest we might see interesting novelties in the 2021 Honda Passport. According to some reports, it looks like we are about to see an upgraded, performance version, which will make this SUV far more capable. Of course, some of the first things that come to mind are new suspension setup, higher ground clearance, low-range four-wheel-drive, skid plates and even locking differentials. With all these upgrades, the 2021 Honda Passport we become significantly more capable, much closer to the original model.
Besides mechanical upgrades, the new model is also expected to come with various visual updates. These changes would affect all versions and we may presume this would be a typical facelift. In practice, this probably means a couple of tweaks to the front end. The current model is still quite fresh, so we don’t expect significant updates. A couple of tweaks to the grille and front bumper are everything we expect to see, as well as things like new color options, wheels etc.
Interior On the other side, we don’t expect bigger changes on the inside. The current model already features a well-built and attractive cabin. The first thing you’ll notice is the dashboard, which features hi-quality materials and comes with pretty attractive design solutions. Compared to rivals like Ford Edge or Chevy Blazer, the Passports features much higher overall quality. Therefore, we don’t expect more important for the 2021 Honda Passport, though smaller updates like new color schemes seem possible.
2021 Honda Passport Interior
Nice materials, another strong point of this SUV is interior space. Both rows offer plenty of leg and headroom, though some would say that seats need more support. When it comes to the cargo area, the Passport stands pretty well. You can count on about 41 cubic feet behind rear seats, while the overall cargo volume goes up to 78 cubic feet.
Features
Of course, this is another aspect where we could see novelties. One of the things we don’t like in the current model is that base trims come with a small 5-inch infotainment screen. We hope this will change and that a touchscreen will become standard. Other than that, the base version looks okay, though additions are welcome. Current, the list of standard equipment includes things like Bluetooth, a USB port, and a seven-speaker sound system. We would like to see more USB ports, smartphone integration and similar things as standard features.
When it comes to safety, there is really nothing to complain about. All models come standard with things like lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation system etc. Additionally, you can get things like blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are available.
2021 Honda Passport Release Date and Price
Considering that the 2021 Honda Passport is expected to come with updates, we may see it on the market a little bit earlier than usual, most likely in the third quarter of 2020. When it comes to the price, we don’t expect bigger changes. The current model starts at around 32.000, while the most expensive versions go around 44.000 dollars.
