Nissan’s long-running, family-oriented Pathfinder SUV has long been on the roads without the full redesign and to stay relevant in the fast-growing SUV market it needs deep upgrades soon. The current generation version was launched in 2013 and the model received a major upgrade for the 2017 version. Nissan was spotted while testing the new generation Rogue but the prototype of the potentially all-new Pathfinder hasn’t yet been caught by the spy camera. This could mean that the new generation Pathfinder will skip the 2022 model year and arrive as the 2022 version but some sources suggest that 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will be the all-new version.
In any case, the redesigned Pathfinder is expected to share design and interior cues with the upcoming Nissan Rogue. Two models will also employ similar tech features. The model will also benefit from the deep structural upgrades. 2022 Nissan Pathfinder Powertrains
The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will benefit from the structural upgrades and the effect should be seen on the ride quality and efficiency. It’s not clear yet what powertrain solutions Nissan has in mind for the all-new Pathfinder. The model should again prioritize comfort and efficiency over high performance. We should expect it with both the combustion engine and hybrid powertrain.
The current Pathfinder relies on the venerable 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired with a continuously variable transmission. The engine delivers 284 hp and torque of 259 lb-ft. The Pathfinder can tow up to 6, 000 pounds while the fuel economy is up to 23 mpg combined.

Obviously, the new generation Nissan Roque is of greater priority for the brand and we saw the prototype versions of this model on several occasions while larger Pathfinder hasn’t yet been spotted in the prototype form. Without the view onto the prototype version, we can’t be sure how the new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will look if arrives fully redesigned but several sources give us some suggestions about what to expect.
Like the upcoming all-new Roque, the redesigned Pathfinder should adopt the brand’s newest styling language with the design cues borrowed from the Xmotion Concept. That should mean a more upright stance and tighter body lines. The model is also expected to come with more sculpted hood and fenders but with the raised beltline.
The front section of the model should also adopt a new V-motion grille version with a more dynamic and sleeker design. Like the newest Nissan Juke and the next Roque should appear with the split-headlight design and that is also expected for the redesigned Pathfinder. The slim signature lighting should sit high on the front fascia following the contours of the new grille while the main beams will be placed lower on the fascia.
The rear should also get a new bumper and taillights design combined with the reshaped tailgate.
What is also important, the new-gen Pathfinder will be based on the upgraded platform which should provide better riding dynamics allowing also an implementation of the new technologies including electrified powertrains.
Interior, equipment
The cabin of the all-new Pathfinder should also undergo a deep modernization. The current version has already versatile interior and robust cargo capacity but the new version should improve both aspects further.
The fifth-generation Pathfinder should also come with the fully redesigned dashboard and center console. There will be fewer physical buttons and controls and a new large touchscreen with a new position similar to the new Juke and next Roque. The new center display will operate the brand’s newest infotainment system.
The Pathfinder will also come with the new instrument panel and upgraded materials. The new multi-function steering wheel will also be part of the redesign.
The new version should also load more standard equipment including active safety systems. Still, Nissan will try to keep the price of the model at the check and premium features will appear in the upper grades.
