Nissan will use the new Monograph concept for its most luxurious vehicle in this segment. New styling will make the QX80 more aggressive. Bosses are targeting younger buyers with a distinctive look and a lot of modern features inside the cockpit. The SUV is already carrying some shades of the new platform, but the mid-cycle refresh will increase the number of features from the Monograph architecture.
The big rig has a powerful V8 engine under the hood. For now, it will stay put. However, we can hear rumors about the new diesel unit for the 2021 Infiniti QX80. That could be the only diesel Nissan is using for its Titan XD truck– a 5.0-liter V8. Well, the QX80 could handle its power and torque, and the SUV would become an off-road monster. By combining utility and luxury, Infiniti’s vehicle will get on the line with Toyota Land Cruiser.

Under the bonnet of the 2021 Infiniti QX80 will be a reliable 5.6-liter V8 engine. This unit is capable to provide 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. The bad thing is that drivetrain consumes a lot of fuel. With a combined rating of just 17 mpg, the QX80 is an expensive rig. Still, it is better than some other luxurious SUVs can do. Rear-wheel drive is standard. Buyers can also upgrade the ride to all-wheel drive that is getting the energy through a seven-speed auto gearbox. The 2021 Infiniti QX80 will be one of the best haulers in the premium segment with a towing capacity around 8,500 lbs. Only a few other models can tow more.
Diesel
The specs sheet of Nissan’s diesel unit says 2021 Infiniti QX80 can count on 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of twisting power. This energy will increase the towing capacity to 12,000 pounds. A Cummins turbodiesel unit is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. We believe that QX80 will use only an AWD configuration with this engine.
Redesign and Monograph Concept
The new 2021 Infiniti QX80 will use a new styling language. The Monograph concept we saw a couple of years ago will get its way into production. The bigger portion of details and features are coming for the 2021 Infiniti QX80. Although the big SUV was redesigned in 2017, the company decides to make a mid-cycle refresh.

Interior and Accessories
Well, the exterior could draw attention, but what really buys younger buyers is modern equipment and systems inside the cabin. First of all, the premium SUV is loaded with a lot of features that improves comfort and overall impression. An eight-seat layout is perfect for larger families and longer trips. Well, the major downside of SUV was a lack of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some other companies also developed their own systems, but Nissan IVI infotainment can’t offer the replacement for these leading services. Toyota tried the same, but they started adding both features to its vehicles. We expect the same from the 2021 Infiniti QX80.
To improve the comfort, the 2021 Infiniti QX80 will offer captain’s chairs for the second row. In this case, the seating capacity drops to seven spots. We already mentioned the lack of some features as a downside of the SUV’s predecessors. The advantage is definitely a quiet cabin and isolation. V8 roars under the hood, passengers won’t hear it.
2021 Infiniti QX80 Release Date and Price
The new Monograph concept will increase the price of the 2021 Infiniti QX80. Currently, the SUV is available for $65k, while the new model will be much closer to $70,000. Slightly more equipment is coming with the 4WD version that costs $3,000 more. Top of the line model is Limited edition and it brings features and upgrades worth of at least $90,000. Well, most of these are for showing off, such as “welcome” lighting signs and satin exterior. Still, there are roof rails, ProPilot driver aid features, and parking sensors included.
The new 2021 Infiniti QX80 will debut later this year. The LA Auto Show could host the premiere, and the SUV will hit the dealerships right after the unveiling. Then, we will see all the features the new Monograph concept is bringing. Definitely, these will help the QX80 be more competitive in the full-size premium SUV market. The competition is not large, but it is not easy to breakthrough with Lincoln Navigator, Toyota Land Cruiser, or Cadillac Escalade as main rivals.
