2020 Ram 1500 Diesel, Engines, Release Date, Changes. The fifth-generation Ram 1500 entered the stage at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show as the 2019 model and the new version is the breakthrough in all aspects. The new model improved the comfort, performance, capability, efficiency, sophistication, and design.
Despite we still discovering all improvements of the redesigned Ram 1500 the next 2020 Ram 1500 and new model years to come also promise more upgrades. What Ram also promised is the supercharged Hellcat-powered Ram TRX version based on the Rebel TRX Concept model but this version will likely wait for the later model years to appear.
2020 RAM 1500 POWERTRAINS, CAPABILITY
With the weight loss, improved structural rigidity and upgraded suspension, the new generation, half-ton Ram also benefit from the eTorque mild-hybrid system which improves performance and efficiency. The 48-Volt battery placed vertically behind the rear seat row power is the part of the torque system with the generator which boosts the start and helps the smooth power delivery.
With the 2020 Ram 1500, the eTorque system will be standard with the base 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine adding 90 lb-ft of torque. The optional mild-hybrid system will aid with 130 lb-ft of torque in the case of the V-8 engine.
The 3.0-liter EcoDiesl V-6 engine should also be on the list for the 2020 model year. The engine should challenge 30 mpg highway of Ford F-150’s diesel.
The upgraded off-road Rebel version will boost the gear for the off-road ride. The model will have a payload limit of 2, 300 pounds.
2020 RAM 1500 REDESIGN
Ram thoroughly redesigned the new-generation half-ton truck and there is no much room for further improvements in the near future. The 2020 Ram 1500 will continue to live on the recent upgraded for years and changes will be just in details for the several coming years. The next model year will likely bring new color and wheel choices and possibly new exterior theme.
The Ram 1500 applied the weight reduction measurements for the new generation version and weights 225 lbs less than the previous iteration while gained additional inches and interior comfort. The model uses 98 percent high-strength steel alloys for its structure but also expanded the use of aluminum to shed some weight.
The styling also changed radically and there won’t be the notable modification for the new model year. The Ram discontinued the crosshair grille style and has the new sleeker grille version and less rugged body shape.
INTERIOR, EQUIPMENT
The new-gen, light-duty Ram improved the interior comfort and sophistication and the model also provides more tech features than ever. The changes in dimensions translate to more space for the passenger and the crew-cab version provides almost 5 inches more rear seat legroom. The material quality is also scaled up and the Ram is smarter than ever.
The model will keep the interior intact from the current form and some changes in the equipment organization are likely.
The base model will come with the durable materials, 5-inch screen interface, vinyl and available cloth upholstery, six-speakers, etc. The light-duty Ram will also rely on the advanced safety systems. The model will provide surround-vision cameras, blind-spot monitoring, lane control, emergency braking, etc.
