2020 Volvo XC70 Redesign, Review, Concept, and Price

2020 Volvo XC70 Redesign, Review, Concept, and Price. The Volvo XC70 is one of the carmaker’s most famous crossovers with a wagon-like shape. For 2016, this model has been slightly revised and since then it hasn’t gotten any significant changes. With the redesign of the smaller XC60 and a full-size XC90 SUV, we believe that the Swedish manufacturer will finally give it an eagerly expected overhaul. The newest 2020 Volvo XC70 will most likely get changes in exterior styling and inside the cabin for more modern and luxurious look.

2020 Volvo XC70 powertrain

The 2020 Volvo XC70 will most likely be powered with two types of engines. The one will be a 2.0-liter inline-4 turbocharged engine. This unit is able to develop 240 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and the front-wheel drive will be standard. This engine gets 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

The next option is a 2.5-liter inline-5 turbocharged engine. This one has the output of 250 hp and 266 pound-feet of torque. It is also coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox but comes with all-wheel drive layout only. As for the fuel economy, it is rated at 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The XC70 will have the towing capacity of 3,300 pounds.

2020 Volvo XC70 Design of exterior and interior

The XC70 features a station wagon body shape with a boxy design. It is one of the oldest vehicles in the brand’s lineup and it is starting to look outdated. Since the carmaker has introduced the newer versions of the XC90, the XC60, and others, we assume that the upcoming 2020 Volvo XC70 should also get a much-needed redesign. This time, the XC70 will most likely get a new hood with a larger grille and new headlamps. The rear end of the vehicle should also be revised with reshaped bumper and taillights, and we also expect the new design of the wheels. We will know more after the manufacturer’s official announcement.

The cabin of the 2020 Volvo XC70 will continue with the same two-row seating configuration and it will be able to welcome five passengers. Generally, the interior is very spacious and all the passengers have enough room, even the taller occupants in the rear seats. The front seats are supportive as well and provide excellent outward visibility. This time the XC70 should get upgraded materials for more premium look and perhaps some small changes in design. Behind the second row, the Volvo has the cargo room of 33 cubic feet. And with rear seats folded down, there is the room of 72 cubes.
