That includes small visual modifications and additional interior equipment.

The Japanese manufacturer also plans to offer a hybrid variant, but the trim levels will remain unchanged for 2021. The price will slightly increase and we can expect a new model in the second half of 2021.

New 2021 Subaru Crosstrek and Crosstrek Sport are about to arrive. Both models will suffer significant modifications for the upcoming year. For a start, the Sport version won’t feature a 6-speed manual transmission anymore. On the other hand, regular Crosstrek will get a more powerful engine. That, you can expect numerous updates in terms of exterior design and interior features.

The Japanese manufacturer will introduce a hybrid model with more than solid fuel efficiency. As for the trim levels, Subaru won’t change anything. This crossover-SUV will go on sale in the second half of 2020 and it will remain as affordable as always before.

2021 SUBARU CROSSTREK: NEW EQUIPMENT

The all-new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will get numerous upgrades. Visual changes are far from significant. The interior will only get improved tech. The same stands for the Sport version that will slot above the Premium trim level. Thanks to that, Crosstrek Sport will get similar equipment as the Premium variant. That includes new SI-DRIVE mode and Hill Descent Control. This model will arrive with 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and brand-new roof rails.

Under guards are color-accented and gloss-black features are visible at first glance. Subaru will offer various blacked-out features. Safety equipment is better than on the current model. Japanese manufacturer plans to offer EyeSight safety suite to all of its upcoming SUVs as a standard part of the equipment.

2021 SUBARU CROSSTREK SPORT: WON’T OFFER MANUAL TRANSMISSION

As we said, the Sport version will arrive without manual transmission for the first time. The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport will go through various significant changes in the coming years. This is just a beginning. Whatsoever, Subaru did the same thing with its Legacy, Forester and Outback models. On the other hand, the Premium model still offers a manual gearbox.

The rest of the trim levels, including the Sport, will get the current 8-speed automatic transmission. The reason for such a radical move is that the buyers are not into a manual gearbox as before. Interestingly, only six percent of Crosstrek’s customers are opting for manual transmission. Subaru isn’t the first nor the last automaker to do so.

2021 SUBARU CROSSTREK: MORE POTENT ENGINE

The approaching 2021 Subaru Crosstrek is about to get the more powerful engine. As for the Sport version, nothing will change under the hood. That means a 2.5-liter four-cylinder remains. The same 2.5-liter remains in the regular Crosstrek. Subaru will re-tune this engine in order to provide more power. Thanks to that, a new 2021 Crosstrek model will provide more than the current 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque.

According to the latest reports, Japanese automaker plans to deliver an additional 30 horses and 31 lb-ft of torque. A new model will weigh 446 pounds less than the current model. Crosstrek Hybrid will largely remain and it will provide 17 miles of all-electric driving range.

REGULAR CROSSTREK VERSION WILL GAIN MORE POWER

The all-new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport won’t arrive with improved performances. The regular variant will certainly introduce more horses. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder will remain. The manufacturer will slightly re-tune this powertrain so we can expect stronger performances. Subaru didn’t provide any specific details. Currently, this output generates 182 hp and 176 lb-ft of torque.

No doubt, new Crosstrek will pack more power, probably over 200 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of twisting power. As for the hybrid version, it is available once again. Current Crosstrek Hybrid provides 17 miles of pure electric driving and we will probably see some improvements in this category.

2021 CROSSTREK SPORT WON’T OFFER A 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION

The high-performance 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport will arrive once again. This time without a 6-speed manual transmission. Subaru did the same thing with the Forester, Legacy and Outback models. Because of that, we are not surprised at all. On the other hand, base and Premium trim levels will continue to offer a manual gearbox. The rest of the models and trim levels will deploy an 8-speed automatic transmission instead. The main question is why Subaru wants to ax manual gearbox?

The reason is lower sales. The manufacturer claims that only 6 percent of Crosstrek buyers are choosing manual transmission. Can’t blame Subaru for that? The rest of the automakers are doing the same thing. Subaru is no different so expect for the carmaker to drop manual transmission from all its vehicles in the coming years.

LIST OF UPGRADES

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport will slot between after the Premium trim level. For that reason, it will get a similar range of equipment. That includes the Hill Descent Control system and the SI-DRIVE mode. Sport variant comes with 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and roof rails. Under guars with color accents and gloss, black exterior features are all available as standard.

Subaru also pays special attention to safety. The plan is to offer its EyeSight safety suite as a standard part of the equipment to the company’s entire SUV lineup. It is another reason why manual transmission is gone. EyeSight and manual transmission can’t be fitted at the same time.

2021 SUBARU CROSSTREK PRICE AND RELEASE DATE

The Japanese automaker plans to release the new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek later this year. The most likely launch date is in the third quarter of 2020. The price will start at about $25,000. On the other hand, the Sport trim level starts at $30,000 and Crosstrek Hybrid closer to $35,000. Most likely rival is again, Jeep Renegade, Nissan Kicks, and Mazda CX-4.

Once it arrives, the next 2021 Subaru Crosstrek will cost more than its predecessor. That means the price should start at around $25,000. Sport version will cost around $30,000 and Hybrid over $35,000. Nissan Kicks, Mazda CX-4 and Jeep Renegade will remain the most likely competitors.
