2022 Chevrolet Express Specs, Price, Engines, & Photos. Things have gone in a different way when everyone thought that the Chevy will ax its Express cargo van. New 2022 Chevrolet Express continues its journey, this time, with a new engine. Reports from the last couple of days are strongly suggesting a new 6.6-liter V8 powertrain. The same engine is present in the current lineup of Silverado HD pickups.
Thanks to that, Express van will arrive with more power and stronger performances. On the other hand, the exterior will largely remain. Some updates inside the cabin will finally happen. Chevrolet will release its new model later this year.
NEW V8 POWERTRAIN OPTION
After many rumors about the end of the production, Chevy made a statement by providing the new engine to its best-selling cargo van. The 2022 Chevrolet Express will arrive with a new 6.6-liter V8 gasoline powertrain. This unit is present in the current Silverado HD pickup trucks. That also means 6.0-liter V8 is gone. The new engine will produce 401 horsepower and 464 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic transmission is available.
To compare, the previous engine produced 341 hp and 373 lb-ft of twisting power. That is a significant boost in terms of power. Still, powerful V8 is the optional engine. The standard unit remains a 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel with 181 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. An 8-speed automatic gearbox will be optional.
2022 EXPRESS EXTERIOR REMAINS UNCHANGED
The new 2022 Chevrolet Express won’t suffer exterior modifications. This cargo van will arrive with its familiar boxy shape and somewhat outdated appearance. The same design is present for years now. Rounder corners and upright front fascia are providing a modern look.
On the other hand, some other models in the segment are definitely looking better and more modern. The only change that could happen is on the upper trim levels where we could see more premium exterior features. Lastly, we hope that the Chevy will provide at least one or two new exterior paints.
INTERIOR WILL GAIN MINOR HIGH-TECH UPDATES
In terms of interior design, the new 2022 Chevrolet Express should gain minor updates. The regular model comes with a white interior color scheme and it looks kinda cool. Cargo van is also available in different colors. Thanks to that, this model is easy-to-customize. The Express model offers doors with or without windows. Passenger and cargo variants are slightly different in terms of equipment.
Passenger van provides more standard amenities. Still, you can get all of these features in the cargo version but they are optional. Chevrolet also offers numerous optional packages. Comfort is more than solid and cargo capacity is quite impressive. The cabin is very practical and upper trim levels are offering more luxury.
2022 CHEVROLET EXPRESS PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
The upcoming 2022 Chevrolet Express will cost closer to the $35,000 this time. Express comes with a great tradition and this van is one of the oldest vehicles that are still available. The only model that comes with a longer tradition is the Ford E-Series. The sales will start in the last quarter of 2020.
