2022 Ford Galaxy: What We Know So Far!. The upcoming 2022 Ford Galaxy Hybrid is coming to the markets in Europe. Ford recently said that the company is investing around $40 million into the production of the S-Max and Galaxy Hybrid versions. The production already started in the company’s facility in Valencia, Spain. This plant will get two new assemblies and one of them will be used for the production of the lithium-ion battery packs.
Interestingly, Ford Kuga will have a great impact on these two models. Whatsoever, both versions are using the same hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems as the Kuga SUV. However, performance details are not available yet. Still, Galaxy minivan is finally getting additional refreshments and here’s what we know so far.
WHAT ABOUT CONVENTIONAL ENGINES?
This modern minivan offers two gasoline and a single diesel powertrain option. The 2022 Ford Galaxy Hybrid is using 2.5-liter gasoline in a combination with an electric motor. On the other hand, the same 2.5-liter is not available in regular Galaxy minivan.
A 1.5-liter EcoBoost with 160 hp is once again standard. Optional 2.0-liter is good for 240 horsepower. The third option is a diesel that generates 150 hp. The same 2.0-liter TDCi diesel offers a second output that has been rated at 180 horses.
2022 GALAXY HYBRID POWERTRAIN SPECS
As we said, a new 2022 Ford Galaxy Hybrid will use the same hybrid and plug-in hybrid system as Ford Kuga. That means this minivan will arrive with a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine. This output is mated to a 48V electric motor/generator and the battery pack. Batteries are placed under the floor and the power is sent to the front wheels. Moreover, Galaxy Hybrid will use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
As for the performance specs, Ford didn’t say anything on this topic. However, Blue Oval manufacturer said the goal is to deliver up to 200 hp and 155 lb-ft of torque. Both new C-Max and Galaxy Hybrid will be capable of running of all-electric power. We expect the mileage is only good for short journeys.
WHAT ELSE IS NEW?
The all-new 2022 Ford Galaxy Hybrid will also introduce numerous visual and high-tech refreshments. And while the upcoming C-Max is available in both five and seven-seat variants, Galaxy Hybrid comes with only seven-seat configuration. Just like the regular Galaxy minivan, the hybrid version will get the same visual improvements. That includes reshaped headlamps and new taillights.
Blue Oval is also working on improved aerodynamics and reducing the vehicle’s weight. On the inside, this minivan should get new high-tech features. For a start, the larger display will become available and Ford will also reduce the number of buttons. New driver-assistance aids will be optional and the base model will now offer a slightly longer list of standard equipment.
2022 FORD GALAXY HYBRID PRICE AND RELEASE DATE
The production of the brand-new 2022 Ford Galaxy Hybrid already started in Spain. The first reports suggested for this minivan to arrive later in 2020. However, the hybrid version will surely go on sale at some point in 2022.
Galaxy is just one of the fourteen models that Ford plans to introduce in Europe as a part of an electrification plan. The price is not available yet but expect a more premium price than the Galaxy’s $38,000.
